Legendary American composer John Adams returns to conduct Lahti Symphony after a four-year hiatus. This time, Adams leads the audience into a fast lane towards the subconscious; uncontrollable enthusiasm and momentary intoxication intertwine with experiences of rest and peace.

Adams' recent orchestral work Frenzy: a short symphony is an 18-minute mini-symphony that pulses to the rhythm of the information environment that now controls our ability to concentrate. A different reality is represented by Gabriela Smith's Tumblebird Contrails, a snapshot of marine tranquility in which the smallness of man meets the greatness of natural forces.

Claude Debussy's impressionist style defined the direction of French music at the turn of the last century. His international breakthrough work, La Mer, written in 1905, is a symphonic wave and a classic of impressionist music, in the waves of which all the colors of the orchestra sparkle.
