The gardens of the Royal Palace of Aranjuez and the ethereal dreamscapes of Takemitsu come to life through Timo Korhonen’s nuanced guitar interpretations. Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez opens a window onto the Spanish landscape: the fragrance of magnolias, the singing of birds, and the flow of cascading fountains.
In contrast, Takemitsu’s music invites the listener into a different realm—one where nature, the spiritual world, reality, and dreams intertwine. Beethoven’s Fourth Symphony radiates classical balance, lightness, and joy. Chief Conductor John Storgårds builds a bridge between the fragmentary messages of György Kurtág—who celebrates his 100th anniversary in February 2026—and the expansive exultation of Beethoven’s Fourth.
